The Direct Selling Association protects your business

The Direct Selling Association is the name of several similar trade associations found worldwide.

Below is a list of some of the countries where the DSA has members:

The mission of the Direct Selling Association (also known as DSA) is to....

"Protect, serve and promote the effectiveness of member companies and their independent sales people".

Primarily the DSA exists to ensure a high standard of business ethics is maintained by all its member companies and in doing so protects not only the companies it represents, but their independent sales people and most importantly, consumer rights.

Every company that joins the Direct Selling Association pledges to abide by the DSA Code of Ethics which is the cornerstone of the association's commitment to business ethics. In doing so they agree to uphold the standards and procedures of the Code of Ethics as a condition of admission and continuing membership of the Association.

So if you are a statistics junkie then you should be getting just a bit interested right now!

When you look at these industry statistics you can very clearly see that direct selling is not likely to go away any time soon.

So how about looking at a cross section of countries and comparing the total number of people involved in direct sales in that country to the total population of that country.

The interesting observation we can make from this country by country analysis is that despite the significant growth of the industry and level of sales globally (as established in the graphs above) there is still an incredible opportunity that exists for business entrepreneurs to join the industry in all markets shown here.

As these figures indicate, there is still room for substantial growth!


Literally millions of people globally, around 62.7 million to be exact (according to industry statistics published by the DSA for 2007) represent a global sales force. Now that's a lot of people who see the potential of this industry and many no doubt are making great, if not FANTASTIC incomes from their involvement!!!

Additionally, there are literally billions of people around the world who purchase products and services using the direct sales model and according to DSA statistics for 2007 those sales were at a 10 year high of US$114 billion.
